Free Enterprise Speaker Series presents Magatte Wade, Sustainable People: How Entrepreneurship and Freedom Save People and the Planet. An entrepreneur and activist working for the rights of women and the global poor, Magatte Wade brings her inspirational message of entrepreneurship and economic freedom to Western Carolina University. Channeling her first-hand experience living and starting businesses in Africa, Europe and America, Magatte begins with the simple yet profound question: why are some countries rich, and others poor? Her unique approach to this age-old question connects the importance of economic freedom to a people’s prosperity and also to its environmental sustainability. By simplifying the business environment for small and medium sized enterprises, more jobs are created, and prosperity rises. Come hear Magatte’s stories of African families and their environments that have been transformed and made sustainable by opportunities for legal employment. This Degree Plus event is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Free Enterprise.
