In this talk printmaker/artist Raj Bunnag will explain how the art world is built upon the theft and reuse of other master artist’s ideas, themes, juxtapositions, and iconography. Whether it’s the recycling of certain stories, like the “Passion of the Christ” or “Dante’s Inferno,” or the use of the composition of figures to mirror a more notable scene that a master used before such as the “Temptation of St Anthony”. Nothing in this world is original and to recognize that is the first acceptance an artist must have in order to create their work. By copying a masters lines you are following in their motions and therefore are subconsciously training your mind/hand how to replicate those same motions of a master. Someone in art history has done all the work for you, you just need to figure out how to use it for yourself. Work smarter not harder.
