DESCRIPTION:Small Business Taxes - May 16th\n\n5:30-8:30\n\nThe Small Business Center of Southwestern Community College will offer a free seminar entitled\, "How\n\nto Start a Business" on Thursday\, May 16th\, from 5:30pm   8:30pm on the SCC Jackson Campus in the\n\nFounder's Hall Room 117.\n\nAn important step in staying out of trouble as a business owner is understanding tax reporting\n\nresponsibilities. In the government's eye ignorance of the law is no excuse for failing to comply. In this\n\nmodule participants become familiar with tax procedures and forms those owners must file to comply with\n\nstate and federal regulations for reporting business activity. Participants will:\n\n  Learn the importance of tax planning throughout the year\,\n\n  Understand how careful tax planning and record keeping can make tax reporting less stressful\,\n\n  Experience the process small business owners undertake to comply with sales tax reporting\,\n\n  Identify resources available to entrepreneurs regarding tax reporting\, and\n\n  Practice filing state and federal tax forms for a sample business.\n\nThis class is not to be missed by any interested entrepreneurs.
